In Memory Giving

A Special Way to Remember Someone Special

At a time of sorrow it is comforting to know that something positive is being done to remember a loved one, a way of honouring their values and commitment to others. Boys Town Jerusalem’s In Memory Programme is a way to remember a loved one for perpetuity in Jerusalem, whilst at the same time helping to enrich the lives of the pupils at Boys Town Jerusalem.

Annual Yahrzeit

Kaddish* will be recited every year on your loves ones Yahrzeit** by a pupil at Boys Town Jerusalem at each of the daily services.

Kaddish for a year

Kaddish will be recited three times daily for the year following your loved one’s passing, by one of the pupils in one of Boys Town Jerusalem’s synagogues.

Kaddish and Plaque

In addition to Kaddish being recited for the year following your loved one’s death and on their Yahrzeit, a personal plaque will be installed in one of the synagogues at Boys Town Jerusalem.

All of these options are available to arrange in advance, providing the comfort of knowing that Kaddish will be said and Yahrzeit commemorated in perpetuity, for you or a loved one.

* Yahrzeit is a Yiddish word meaning anniversary of a death. It is the yearly anniversary of a loved one’s death (traditionally the anniversary of the Hebrew date). At home, Yahrzeit is observed by lighting a special 25-hour candle in memory of the deceased.

** Kaddish is an Aramaic prayer that is almost 2,000 years old. One form of the Kaddish is recited in memory of the deceased and is recited in a prayer service, on a daily basis, after the death of a relative. Where possible, Kaddish is recited every day during the morning, afternoon, and evening services.
